Coastal Research Institute (CORI), is a governmental organization established in 1972 as an urgent need for monitoring and protecting the Egyptian coasts. CORI is one of the twelve institutes of the National Water Research Center (NWRC).




  • Burullus seawall was constructed in 1984 with width of 5m and level of + 2.5 m (above mean sea level). Geotxtile polyester membrane was spread on the bed, fragments of basalt were packed above it and one m3 concrete blocks were placed randomly against the seawall in order to diffuse the action of waves. The Seawall length is about 2 km. Erosion process is now taken place just after the eastern edge
